The Heartland Institute at work in Wisconsin

Dear Friends,

Greetings from The Heartland Institute. Tonight most of us will be watching President Donald Trump deliver his State of the Union address. And given the significant achievements of the past year, President Trump will have much to discuss. Here at Heartland we are particularly proud to work closely with the Trump Administration to implement long term goals we’ve had for years: rolling back the Obama war on fossil fuels, particularly on coal; passing significant and long overdue tax relief for American businesses and families; eliminating dozens of burdensome regulations; and fighting off the big Government proposals that have controlled Washington for decades.

But with most political attention focused on Washington today, it’s easy to overlook the fact that 39 state legislatures are in session today – and the Heartland Institute is busy in most of these promoting free market proposals. We are the only national think tank that focuses on state policymakers, because we know that the best progress on free market solutions will be the states, not in D.C.

We are excited to report that the Office of the Speaker of the Wisconsin Legislature has requested Heartland provide testimony on Governor Walker’s welfare reforms at a hearing tomorrow. We are happy to do so – and we will report that it is actually these conservative, work-focused reforms that will lift Wisconsin families out of poverty and get them back to work.

If you would like to see a copy of our testimony after we deliver it tomorrow: please let us know. Again, thank you for your support of Heartland and all our allies in the Freedom movement.

Sincerely,

Hon. Tim Huelskamp, Ph.D.,

President & CEO of The Heartland Institute
