You’ll Be Stunned When You Read the Real Story of the Climate-Change Movement!

By E. Calvin Beisner

Sometimes I laughed. Sometimes I felt angry. (But then I’d laugh again.) Sometimes I nearly cried. (But then I’d laugh again.) Always I learned. (Even when I laughed!) Page after page of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Climate Change rewarded my attention, in all those ways and more. It’s a funny book. It’s a disturbing book. It’s a heartbreaking book.

Above all, it’s an instructive book. It takes a special kind of writer to weave all those things together— the kind who is passionately involved in the subject, has devoted decades to its study, has rubbed shoulders, over and over, with major players on all sides. In short, it takes a Marc Morano.

His roots as an environmental activist go back to the 1980s. His awakening to the errors of much of his own movement goes back to the early 1990s. His no-holds-barred battles with environmental alarmists, especially climate hypsters, go back to the late 1990s and early 2000s. His years as communications director for Senator James Inhofe and the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee gave him access to mountains of information climatistas and their media allies do their best to hide. Since then, his years publishing ClimateDepot.com for the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow have kept him on the front lines of the conflict.

Most of the time, the Cornwall Alliance focuses on the scientific and economic arguments. We study the warming effects of carbon dioxide and their consequences for ecology and humanity. We examine the impact of climate and energy policy predicated on climate alarmism on people, especially the poor. And, I confess largely because of my own distaste for it, we generally avoid the roughand- tumble of the politics of the global-warming debate.

Our focus is important. Right policy must be founded on right facts.

But in the end, policy is always founded not just on facts as they objectively are but on facts as they’re subjectively perceived— by the public, by educators, by the media, and by policymakers. And, like it or not, politics—and entertainment and education— play a big role in determining perception. We ignore it to our peril.

That’s why I’m so glad that in his 413 pages of exhilarating prose Marc Morano interweaves the science, the economics, the entertainment, and the politics—when necessary even the nasty elements—into his discussion. He concisely and clearly lays out the scientific case that carbon dioxide doesn’t control the earth’s temperature. He energetically and persuasively explains why the demand to abandon fossil fuels and embrace wind and solar spells suffering for billions of people.

But he also exposes climate alarmism’s political and moral Achilles heel. Brutally. But fairly.

One quick example: Climate alarmists commonly claim that all skeptics are bought and paid for by fossil fuel corporations. Morano shows not only that that’s not true but also that alarmists receive thousands of times as much money—from governments and corporations—in incestuous relationships fraught with conflicts of interest. Indeed, he shows that one major oil corporation often (wrongly) accused of funding “climate deniers” has given far more money to the “consensus” side.

The book is just plain fun to read, a whirlwind tour that kept me always expecting more, and never disappointed. I want you to read this book. I want you to share it with others.
