The Truth About Donald Trump’s Racism

By Gary Wickert
Over the past several years, the most innocuous and benign aspects of everyday life have magically, and for political purposes, been transformed into the most evil and vile racist behaviors and symbols. Once again, there simply isn’t enough duct tape on the planet to keep one’s head from exploding when one realizes that so much of this nonsense is actually taken seriously by the radically misinformed left. Falling hard into the “racist” category recently are Instagram filters, a picture of a lily (New Orleans Saints’ logo), Beyonce lyrics, Dr. Seuss, Steve Martin’s King Tut sketch, the movie Dunkirk, anti-litter campaigns, correcting bad grammar, the word “clan”, the fact that Taco Bell doesn’t serve fries, Aunt Jemima, and, oh yeah, Republicans.
A recent analysis of CNN and MSNBC coverage revealed that in a two-day period, the word “racist” was used more than 1,100 times. And that doesn’t include on-screen graphics and chyrons. Representative John Lewis (D-Ga) referred to John McCain’s presidential campaign to that of George Wallace. The media who cried “wolf” are certainly part of the problem. A simple Google search will reveal thousands of articles which paint former President Donald J. Trump as one of the most racist human beings in history, including:
• The Ever-Growing List of Trump’s Most Racist Rants
• Trump’s Long History of Racism
• Trump Insists On Using Racist Language
• Trump Racism Isn’t Just Racism—It’s a Strategy
• Three Times Trump Was Racist During Presidential Debate
• Trump Leans Into Racist Rhetoric
Even President Joe Biden called Donald Trump “one of the most racist presidents in modern history.” That’s right. Joe Biden. The same Joe Biden who voted against Clarence Thomas, voted twice to filibuster the nomination of Janice Rogers Brown (the black daughter of sharecroppers), voted against Miguel Estrada six times, and who voted against minorities appointed by Donald Trump 21 times. The same Joe Biden who white-splained that Latinos in America resist vaccinations because “they’re worried that they’ll be vaccinated and deported.” The same Joe Biden who told the largely black audience that if they were unsure of whether to vote for him or Trump, then “you ain’t black!”; who told a gathering of journalists that that “unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things”; and yes, who described Barack Obama with, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” That Joe Biden.
But surely, with the thousands of articles referring to Donald Trump as racist, there must be some real meat on the bones; some open mike mistakes, discovered “N-word” emails, or hard, solid evidence which would convince a jury in minutes that Donald Trump is truly racist. So, I looked. I searched. I dug into dozens of the most vitriolic name-calling articles and hit pieces from the most liberal propaganda rags to ferret out any and all evidence supporting the hatred and name-calling being spewed from the left. Here are the ones I found:
• Trump claimed that migrants bring diseases into the United States. According to the CDC, migrants are disproportionately exposed to infectious and tropical diseases, including an increased risk of COVID-19, HIV, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, and malaria.
• At a bipartisan meeting discussing protections for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador, and African countries, Trump asked: “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” As Ben Shapiro has said, “To be fair, some countries are pretty crappy.” While his comment was surely inarticulate, I notice that the countries he mentioned don’t have an illegal immigration problem. Everybody there is trying to get out of those countries – and risking life and limb to come to America.
• In season two of The Apprentice, Trump fired Kevin Allen, a Black contestant, for being overeducated. “You’re an unbelievably talented guy in terms of education, and you haven’t done anything,” Trump said on the show. “At some point you have to say, ‘That’s enough.’” Yup, you read that right. Telling somebody to stop being a career student and to go out and accomplish something is racist.
• Trump played a role in the false rumors that Obama was not born in the U.S. A CBS Poll revealed in 2011 that one in four Americans didn’t believe Obama was born in the U.S. And even the Politico has reported that the genesis of the birther movement lay with Democrat—not Republicans. That theory first emerged in the spring of 2008, as Clinton supporters circulated an anonymous email questioning Obama’s citizenship. Even so, it’s hardly a racial issue.
• Trump called undocumented immigrants “animals” at a meeting with reporters in the White House. “You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are,” he said. “These aren’t people, these are animals.” Thousands of news stories flooded the air waves about Trump’s racism. Truth be told, Trump wasn’t talking about all or even many of the illegal immigrants. A look at the actual transcript reveals Trump was referring to members of the notorious gang MS-13 as “animals,” not all—or even many—illegal immigrants.
• The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino had to pay a $200,000 fine because it transferred Black and women dealers off tables to accommodate a big-time gambler’s prejudices. I’m sure Donald Trump was on the premises overseeing the whole thing. Very racist.
As you can see, claims that Trump is racist are built on sand. It is the Democrats who have always been the party of systemic racism. Since its inception, the Republican Party has been working to provide equal opportunity for all American citizens regardless of their race. The Democrat Party can claim no such thing since it has long been the party of slavery, Jim Crow, the Ku Klux Klan, and mass incarceration. And today it is the party of Joe Biden who espouses using real racism to fight phantom racism. The American left is obsessed with racism; it’s all they’ve got. They manufacture it, they stage racial attacks, and they pretend things are when they are not. Racist rants are traced to African American desperate to pack some meat on the liberal claims of systemic racism in this country. Jessie Smollett couldn’t find any real racism to showcase, so he invented some.
Liberals are looking so hard for real racism, that they invent it in the most innocent and benign places. The terms “peanut gallery”, “uppity”, and “master bedroom” have become verboten. The most innocent of things, such as ice cream jimmies, have become racist. Sports teams with completely innocuous names, such as the Marquette Warriors, have had to change their names at great expense. Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben’s are no more. Racism solved. And as the left pats itself on the back and immediately undertakes the next witch hunt for phantom racism, Larnell Evans Sr., the great-grandson of “Aunt Jemima”, refers to the silly campaign against his great grandmother as “an injustice for me and my family.” There you have it! The Democrats’ racist attack against Larnell Evans and his family history—solely because they are black. And once again we see, that when everything is racist, nothing is racist.
