Steve’s Say . . .

Do You Want A Seat
At The Table?

Steve 5How often during the past 5+ years of the Obama regime did a company or organization clearly in the crosshairs of some newly schemed progressive legislation cooperate and even advocate for this action? How could unions, with their cadillac healthcare benefits packages, and health insurance companies, the demon responsible for all that was wrong with medicine in the mind of the Left, do such a thing? Clearly the ideas being promulgated in ObamaCare would dismantle union benefits packages and place health insurance companies on the road to bankruptcy.

Simple: “We want a seat at the table.”

So what do you get when you have a “seat at the table?”

Well, in the short term quite a bit. Unions were given an exemption by emperor Obama so that the financial penalty for a union “cadillac” policy would not occur, at least for awhile. Insurance companies were promised a guaranteed swath of new, YOUNG, paying customers compelled to purchase their products due to the “teeth” (penalties) put into the law by Pelosi et al.

In the longer term, what did they receive? Unions, declining for years in membership and popularity with the American people, accumulated more badwill by obtaining this most favored status trinket from the great overlord. Of course, when the smoke clears and all is said and done, these union benefits packages will be subject to the cadillac benefits tax, dismantling the last vestiges of union political power, as the membership remnants finally realize they were sold down the river by their union bosses.

The insurance industry has fared no better. After the fully anticipated disaster of the ObamaCare website, the factual data points of the exchange sign-ups show the true story, nature and intent of ObamaCare; complete and total destruction of the health insurance marketplace. It is obvious and it is working perfectly. As Ezekiel Emmanuel said succinctly, “It’s working exactly as intended.”

So the proverbial seat at the table is like the team owners vote of confidence for an embattled coach - the telltale sign that the end is near. For the unions, whatever political clout they once wielded has been assumed by the state; they have completed their mission as useful idiots. For the insurance companies, well, they were never really interested in playing in a free marketplace anyway. After all, they spent oodles of money on lobbyists to curry government favors. Live by crony capitalism, die by crony capitalism.

There can be only one Duce’ in fascism, one Nazi Fuhrer and one Stalin in your totalitarian communist state. Dictators do not share power.

The idea of “a seat at the table” could not be more vile and revolting to an individual who believes in the idea of America. A seat at the table implies that someone owns the seats and assigns them - in this case the Federal government. According to this line of logic, the Federal government tells its citizens who it will deal with and who it won’t. In other words, the citizens are the “subjects” of the Federal government.

I for one will never acknowledge subjugation by the feds, the UN or any other governmental or bureaucratic monstrosity. The federal government works for me and for my fellow citizens. They are OUR subjects! Diane Feinstein, if I ever have the opportunity to appear before a Senate committee you chair, that relationship will be clearly reiterated.

This nobility of elected officials and bureaucratic aristocracy has no place in a Republic and will not be tolerated in America. That, my friends, is really what the TEA Party is all about.
